My elderly mother is now in need of help to get up and down the stairs so we are going to need to take the plunge and buy one of these stairlifts, but I’m aware there are some dodgy companies out there, so just looking for recommendations really? Any help appreciated.

Value stairlifts are a good company to get a quote from, when we got one they sent someone round it was no obligation which was what we were after. They’re a reseller for a few different brands so we had a bit of choice to choose from.

Question by Kathy A: Does anyone know where I can donate an battery operated mobility scooter in CT?
It needs a little work on the charger, it is a Fortress 2000 FS Mobility Scooter. I heard of an organization that repairs such and then gives them to people who need them, but I am stumped trying to find a good home for it.

Question by watchdemknights: Does anyone know if the airlines and the rental cars accomodate this?
I am a handicaped man but can walk short distances with the aid of a cane. Recently, I traveled by Northwest, but I didn’t need my cane because they took me all over the airports by a wheelchair attendant.

Now, I am looking into a mobility scooter that I can buy and take to MLB baseball parks and through the airports.

the airlines will absolutely take that. free of charge!!!! I’m not sure about the rental car though, you’d have to call and ask them. they may ask you to check the item into your baggage, but they will not charge you for it. if they do that they will have someone come get you at the ticket counter and escort you to the gate in a wheel chair that the airport provides.

My Grandma was let out of hospital today after having an operation on her foot….for Christmas dinner we were planning on having it at my house since hers in way too small to hold us. In order to get into my house however you must go up 3 quite steep steps. I tried to get a ramp from shop mobility in the town…and they were no help- does anyone else have any ideas? i dont have lots of cash to fork out 50 to buy one but i cant stand the thought of my Grandma being on her own this Christmas!!!!

For an assignment I’m going to deliver a ‘light hearted’ power point presentation on mobility aids for the elderly. I need some images of well known characters, actors, celebrities using sticks/frames/scooters etc, can anyone suggest any?
